A time unknown, but one of suffering
“I have never taken a life, nor have I ever resorted to trickery. All I do is ferry the souls who are already dead and protect thresholds. I am neither good nor bad, for I am nothing but a carer for the deceased.”
His voice held such a gentleness when he said, “I will remain with you until the end.”
He’d been trapped in a prism crystal for that very reason and freed upon Earth rather than released within their holy realm, Relune. A place where darkness and light touched, where life and death danced, and cold and heat kissed. Relune was considered a place of perfection, where any element, no matter how obscure or immeasurable, could be found.
Unfortunately for them, Lindi was the most menacing thing that could possibly be there, and she sought vengeance for womankind.
He strived for perfection, as he was an imperfect thing.
“Weldir? Are you still there?” “I never left.”
Suddenly her anger vanished in the wake of the touch she’d been craving, and the hopeful promise of more.
“I think this may be the first time you’ve ever smiled at me.”
