We believe, as does church consultant Lyle Schaller, that passion is critical to any pastor’s ministry. Schaller writes, “I think passion is the critical variable. It has taken me a long time to come around to that, but if a pastor does not have a passion for the mission, you can forget the rest. I would insist that the number one quality for a leader is passion.”[1]
