“Going to run away from me again?” I asked, smiling as she scowled. “Yes.” “My favorite. Run, run, Rebel. I can chase you all night.”

Stalking a girl who preferred to lie in bed watching movies, reading, and ordering endless takeout was boring. It had been four days, and she had left the house two times.

I listened, pulling out a new wrench. My eyes went wide as he stepped up next to me. “You want me to use this?”

Please go on your date. Stalking you, killing him, tattooing my name on you. It sounds like my dream date.”

She was mine, and there was no chance I wouldn’t catch her. I would always catch her.

“Okay. You’re in charge.” “You’re going to give up the control, just like that?” “To you? Yes. Only you. I would bow at your fucking feet, Regan. You always have the control.”

Do you know what a rook does in chess?” She shook her head, and I wrapped my arms around her. “He protects the queen. He can’t take her down, he can’t win against her, he only protects her. If you want to be queen of it all, I will cut down anyone in your way. I won’t stop you or lock you up, and yes, I would happily kill anyone who bothers you.”

I was already falling in love with Regan Fletcher, and true to the Fletcher name, she was bound to ruin my life.

“If looking at this art makes you feel an ounce of what I feel when I look at you, then we can both understand why I wouldn’t be bored. I could never be bored with you, Regan. I don’t have to like anything else in the room. If you are there, I have my own personal form of art to look at.”
