Breathing is the most basic human function – to know we are breathing is to know we are alive.
the more we can be kind to ourselves, the more genuine kindness we can show to others.
A native American grandfather was trying to explain the existence of violence and cruelty to his grandson. He said it was like
he had two wolves fighting in his heart: one angry and one kind. The grandson asked who would win this fight between the wolves, and the grandfather answered ‘The one I choose to feed’. Pema encourages us to recognize that it’s up to us, in each moment, to choose whether to ‘feed the right wolf’.
