You can approach the application of Scripture in two ways: First, from the perspective of “doing.” Doing is important to God. James says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”1 I remember a number of years ago reading a little Inter-Varsity devotional in which it suggested application in the form of “a command to obey, a promise to claim, an error to avoid, a sin to forsake,” etc. You must do what God says.
