Considering we've been in her POV since this part of the book occured, and this wasnt disclosed to us, itfeels like cheap twist. If she wasnt able to shield i'd believe it more - because of the emotions and mind reading thing, where she was just pretending the whole time to keep if from Theon/Luka but had to fake it because of the bond but since she CAN shield there's no reason to hide stuff when we're in her POV… unless its for a cheap plot twist
Theon didn’t speak for a long time, and Luka knew him well enough to know he was collecting his thoughts. Funny he never figured out Tessa needed the same courtesy.
