A kitten and a monster. It was a perfect balance.
“I am yours, Tessa. Every piece of me.” Her smile was grim. “No, Theon. You are hers.” “I will never be hers,”
Theon: You were here today, beautiful. I’m still healing from your attack, but for the record, you never need to be armed around me.
Theon: I want you to know that despite all of this, I’ll still come for you.
“I’m saying maybe it’s not Tessa or the Augury that led to this. Maybe it’s this whole godsdamn system.”
In the end, nothing was inevitable. The only certainty among the stars was that fate was a culmination of choices made over days, months, and years.
“Tessalyn Ausra, I would sacrifice all the realms and all the stars for you. You are perfectly wild. Perfectly untamed. You were not made to be caged, nor were you made to be a sacrifice for a realm that does not deserve such a gift. You were made to live in the light. Go live, little storm.”
“I will find you in the After, Tessa. I’ll be waiting for you. You will forever be mine.”
“Be happy,” he repeated. “But more than that, be free, Tessa.”
“But know that I am yours. Every piece of me.”
With one last look at the ones he loved most in this world, Theon turned and walked out of the chamber, doing the one thing he’d sworn he would never do. He let her go.
If she could find the same, she would know peace. She would be what she was created to be. Salvation and destruction.
Because he was a god, but she was a Fury. And her daughter? She was Chaos.
