Spilling your coffee is the adult equivalent to losing your balloon as a child. Don’t judge my tears.
Lennon told me I could stick around for an extra week and study in peace and quiet, I packed up all my study materials and decided I could bury my head in my notes in a bikini on a white sand beach with bright turquoise water as easily as I could at home.
If I’m going to walk away, you better believe I’m going to make sure my ass looks good doing it.
I watch as Bellamy’s yawn morphs into a beautiful smile. One that could light up the entire palace. Kings have gone to war for less.
For just once in my life, I’d like to enjoy being the spare instead of the heir.
the last choice I ever made for myself was made last night. Now every choice I make will be for my country first and my family second.
Thousands of people will come in and out of your life and mean nothing. But it’s the one you never saw coming who changes everything.
He looks like a king. One I fear I’ll follow to my destruction, but what a beautiful death it will be.
What a fucking year this week has been.
“You’re fucking right, I’m yours. Now show me how you kneel for your king.”
“I’m not so sure about that, love. I think marrying you may just have been the smartest thing I’ve ever done.”
“Some of the best advice I’ve ever received was when my mother told me that one day, I’d have to decide what battles were worth going to war over. This . . . this isn’t worth it.” She looks up at me through those damn long lashes. The ones that can bring me to my knees. “What’s worth it?” “Isn’t it obvious, little bee? You . . . you’re worth it.”
You have always been more than enough. You just needed to find the right person to help you see it.
Some girls watched Beauty and the Beast for the beast. I watched it for the library.
“I have loved you since the very first day I met you, my queen.”
“It’s all a part of who you are. Loving you means accepting the crown. And you are worth it.”
“With you by my side, it all makes sense. This life . . . it’s different with you in it. Better. You make it better.” He slides his hand into my hair and tugs as my skin heats with his touch. “You are my true north, love. You are my direction. My reason why.”
She may have been an American, but I think it’s about time we claim her as our own. We’ve already given them our Princess Royale, so it’s only fair we get a queen in return.
“I was made to love you. For the rest of my life, everything else will come second to that, my queen. And whether that’s here in a palace or in Kroydon Hills with your family, you will always be my queen.”
I run my hand over my belly and close my eyes as a beautiful kind of peace washes over me. The kind that only comes from being surrounded by family. The people who know you and love you for who you are. The people I love.
“I am strong because you are at my side, my love. You will never walk alone again.”
we take our seats together, as we should. A united front. That is all anyone will ever see from us again. A king made stronger by his queen.
“You are a god, my love,” she teases as she grips my hand tightly in hers. I wait until the ballroom doors close behind us before I sweep her up in my arms. “Not a god, love. Just a king.” “My king . . .” she whispers. “Always.”
And when it is all over, if I’m asked what good I did in my life, I will say I loved you.
Grandfather told me to pick a partner who will help carry the weight of the crown, and my wife is a warrior queen who will protect our family at all costs, and that weight doesn’t feel as heavy with her by my side.
“You are everything I never thought I could have, Bellamy.” “And you’re everything I prayed I could have when I was begging the universe to let me live, Rhys.”
“Close your eyes, my king. Rest. We’re surrounded by our family. Everyone is safe and happy and healthy, and I’m in your arms. Everything is right in the world.”
