Finally, every year thousands of women in the United States are unable to get an abortion because it is too expensive. Sometimes abortion providers simply refuse to perform abortions for women who are too far along in their pregnancies.226 But the vast majority of these women do not break the law in order to pay for their abortions, nor do they try to perform an abortion on themselves.227 Instead, they give birth to their child.
