“Don’t growl at her, Theon,” Luka cut in. “You know the adjustment will take time. She will need time to navigate this, and how it works. You both will.” “I am aware of that, but she does not need to be in pain,” Theon argued. “I do not want to see her in pain when I can do something about it.”
But even the thing inside her had gone quiet, all the fight going out of her. So instead she sat with her eyes closed until the next round of vomiting and pain consumed her.
“No, beautiful,” he said, shaking his head. “You look like salvation and temptation all rolled into one.”
Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled, the sound mixing with her screams, and as she sank to her knees, it started to pour. Big, cold drops splashed onto her face, into her hair. And gods, it felt amazing. Something wild and free. She was soaked in a matter of seconds, the beautiful dress she was wearing likely ruined.
Too wild to be something, so forced to be nothing.
“Perhaps, but I think he will find what we saw very interesting,” the second replied. “Then let’s go tell him before she summons any more of those things,
People who wanted her for her, not what she could give them.
“That doesn’t mean she knows why she can do that,” Axel shot back. “Have you even asked her about it?” Theon scoffed. “Yes. We had a rather heartfelt conversation about it in between all the bickering and power struggles.” “You’ve made this a power struggle,” Axel retorted. “She gets along with Luka and I just fine when we are not being dicks to her.”
Axel had crossed the room to her and held out his hand. “Spin, baby doll. Show us everything.” A small huff of laughter left her, and she let him spin her in a slow circle. He dramatically clutched at his chest before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. “You look stunning, Tessa.”
