He stares upon me like there is no separation between light and dark, as if we truly are two soldiers cursed to circle one another dangerously, only to secretly meet at dusk and let the blood on our hands disappear with the sun.

“Even if our lives are shorter, I’m going to live every single one of them with you, Em. I love you. I yearn for you even in my dreams.”
“I’m not dying. Fuck that.” He grins, a small flicker of fire burns in his eyes. “I love you. I’ll be right behind you.”
