“I think I might have. But I didn't know it at the time. And she wasn't quite perfect yet.”
She made Jameson happy. She made Sanders happy. He grew very attached to her.
If necessary, he would probably kill for Jameson Kane. If asked, he would probably die for Tatum O'Shea.
Two of the most important people in his life, and Jameson was suddenly painfully aware of the fact that he didn't know much about either of them.
Tatum O'Shea, the woman he knew, would never give up so easily.
And she certainly couldn't leave him alone in the world. Not until he said so.
“I didn't ask when you were coming back to work. I asked when you were coming home,”
“I know. And I'm very sorry.”
He grabbed Sanders by the arm and yanked him forward, into a hug.
For two very un-affectionate men, sometimes it was very natural between them. Jameson was the closest thing Sanders had to a father.
“I'm sorry.”
“I'm sorry I was too stupid and pigheaded to just call
“I never stop thinking about it.
“You and I are finished business, Kane,”
“You and I will never be finished, Tate. Haven't you figured that out yet?”
Not exist? But I made her. She's mine. You can't exist if I don't, stupid girl.
He turned away and forced himself not to look back. If he looked back, he would be lost forever, and if he was lost, he certainly wouldn't be able to find her again.
“I love you, Ang. Quite possibly more than I love myself,
“It took a lot of trouble to get you here. The least you could do is smile, baby girl.”
“There is nothing in this world you could do that would make me stop trusting you.
“Because I've missed you.”
During the short amount of time they'd spent together, Jameson had grown ridiculously attached to the stupid girl.
While he had been so busy trying to warn her away, he hadn't even noticed himself falling into her.
Now he felt left out.
“Give me a month,”
“One month to convince you that I'm not the devil,”
But you have to be honest with me, you can't fake anything or lie.
She wanted more for herself, and she certainly wasn't going to get it from him.
“We're all together again. That's all that matters to me,” Sanders replied.
“I wish more people were like you, Sandy.”
“You know he wants this, right? We're like estranged parents that he's trying to get back together. It's all very sweet,”
Jameson let out a shout and fell backwards, off the side of the boat. Into the water.
“Tatum, I always know what you want.”
“Tate, in a million years, you and I will never be 'just friends',”
She had always been an addict, and he was a drug.
For the first time ever, Jameson worried that he wouldn't be able to win her over.
“I need her to think it's a game, but I know it's not a game,”
Things will never be over between us,”
“No. You had just shoved me overboard, with an anchor chained to my ankle. I didn't think you really gave a fuck,”
Is Jameson Kane apologizing!?
Jameson. In glasses.
I would have been sad because my world is a very lonely place without you.”
But the devil is very good when it comes to dealing with damaged souls.
“Mi nombre es Jameson ... Santiago ... Agustin ... Kraven Kane,”
Jameson is my guardian. You are my best friend,”
“That was really sweet.” “Fuck off.”
“What a stupid fucking question. Of course I think you're pretty.
“You want to be my girlfriend, Tatum?”
“I don't think I have what it takes to be Jameson Kane's 'girlfriend'.”
“Hmmm, I think you were built for it.”
