“Hello,” a single tear slipped down her left cheek. There was no blade on Clecania that could slice him as deeply as that tear.
“The more human females I meet, the more curious I grow as to what treatment you receive on Earth. You all seem very determined not to allow males to tend to your needs, no matter how tedious the task. On Clecania, we take pride in caring for our wives.”
Rhaego stooped, picked a flower, and extended it toward her with a smile. “I heard humans enjoy receiving these.”
All he wanted was to trouble himself for her. To demonstrate the lengths at which he yearned to trouble himself for her. To prove he could make her happy in all ways and instill in her a sense that he was essential to her life and her happiness. Indispensable.
He’d obviously seen her, and he’d obviously seen her dash out of sight, and he would obviously now think that she’d been spying on him. Why didn’t you just nod at him or wave or do any of the normal things people do when they see each other?
A slow creeping smile spread across Rhaego’s full lips. “What a clever wife I’ve caught.”
