“Are you okay?” she murmured. “Yes.” His answer was muffled. She tugged on his hair. “Really?” she pressed. He chuckled and pulled back, leveling her with his warm gaze. “You make me okay when I am not okay, little doe.”
“I wish there was less forgiveness in your heart,” he rasped through a tense jaw. Aurora swallowed the clog in her throat and placed a hand on his chest. “I wish there were more in yours.”
“You see his hands, sire. He told you of the Queen’s actions, yet you kept him chained, and now hold a blade to his mate’s throat? If there is a traitor or a blight in this room, it is you.”
“My world is blurred at the moment. I need time to make sense of it all,” he began. “But I love you, Aurora. If no other truth exists in this world, know that will always remain.”
