The thereness of her. It’s true he feels no desire at the moment, but he’s glad the old lady had the courtesy to stroke out after he got his ashes hauled rather than before.
Emre Yucel
Beautifully and brilliantly described the love of a man towards a woman even in the presence of an old lady

remains of what must have been a perfectly enormous screwdriver,
Emre Yucel
Screwdriver is an alcoholic beverage. I noted it down because it was interesting to me that almost idiomatic expressions of alcoholic beverages are very commonly used in the American culture

she’s simultaneously marching and signaling that the field goal is good.
Emre Yucel
Another term about American football. No idea what the signal is. Don’t watch American football and not interested but it was interesting to read about it. This small expression told me the difference between reading something and knowing something.

College was for people who didn’t know they were smart.
Emre Yucel
This is a lightly formulated sentence by some uneducated people to suggest another justification why they are better off not attending college. It’s important to note the subtle underlying subconscious that the thinker cannot admit they can’t go to college because of insufficient funds. They know it but instead pursue an argument about college goers that they are smart but he is smarter because he knows he is smart enough not to have to go to college but these are not smart enough to know that they are smart enough not to need to go to college. While it is a little condescending, it still leaves a door open for the protagonist to consider college later if opportunity presents itself
