“Jesus, Ashley, are you trying to fucking kill me?”
“Don’t sneak up on people.”
Luther huffs. “You’re the one not paying attention. Now move over.”
“This is where all the cool kids are hanging out, huh?” Dad stops beside the couch. “Clearly. So go away,” Luther replies, then finishes his beer.
“I was going to offer to help clean up, but not with that attitude.”
“I’ll give you time to tell my dad I know.”
She really is my new favorite human.
He’s such a fucking Daddy, it’s unreal.
“What about what you deserve?” Jessie angrily pours a drink for herself. “Don’t we all deserve our person? No matter the risk.”

“I’m just glad I’d already taken my morning bathroom break.”
I smile at the screen. Glad I could give her a moment of levity, even if it came at the cost of me running for my life.
That damn fox was nipping at my heels the whole way to my fucking truck.
“Find one?” She laughs. “You’re not stealing a child for me, Luther.”

“That’s for… whatever you’ve done with my daughter.”
“And that’s for keeping it from me.”
“I didn’t.” Joe grimaces and shakes out his hand. “What are you made out of? Fucking rock?”
“You smashed my nipple.” Joe drops his hands to his sides. “Good.”

“There are no two people in this world that I love more than the two of you. And if you can love an ugly man like him…”
“Then yeah, I’ll be okay...

“You better mean to marry her. Because if you break my daughter’s heart, I will kill you.”
“I’m serious. I will literally fucking kill you.”
I keep grinning. “Oh, I’m going to marry her. And I’m pretty sure you just gave me your blessing.”
“Fine. But no touching each other in front of me.”
“I mean it. When we’re watching TV, you aren’t sitting on his lap or anything like that. Not in my house.”
“Oh my god, Dad.”
“You can quit with all the smiling. You’ll see Luther in just a freaking moment,” Dad grumbles as he parks the truck.
“Ashley, give your new mother some room.”
