“How you doin’?” she murmurs. “So much better now that you’re here with me.” He kisses her palm. “You are just—” He shakes his head. “—stunning. I can’t believe you’re mine.” “And you’re mine.” She smiles. “Let’s make it permanent.”

“I can’t love anyone, Essie.” Not the way she deserves. “Especially not you.”

“Nut up or shut up, dude. Don’t be a crying little chicken bitch if she’s the one for you.”

“You’re truly sunshine and rainbows. You make people happy just by being you. Talking to you right now is the highlight of my day.”

“A lot of this is over my head, but my panties are damp, so please keep sciencing me.” I fight a grin. “Sciencing is not a verb.”

“Thank you for sharing your light with me.” She presses her hand to my cheek, her smile soft and warm like sunshine. “Thank you for trusting me with your heart. I promise I’ll always keep it safe.”
