He’d told her that himself once: “I want all of you. Or I don’t want you at all.”
“I’ll always come when you call,”
Nothing could soothe that—love demanded to be felt.
“It is easy,” he whispered, “to worship you.”
He required no coercion to love her.
“You are more than good enough,” he murmured against her cheek. “You are perfect.”
You are the only queen I answer to.
Doubt had crept in, and there would be no stopping its destructive path.
“I am surrounded by liars,” he whispered. “Including you.”
“I would do anything you asked, Tem,” he whispered. “Whether I am bound to you or not.”
Progress, when unmaintained, was not progress at all. It was just another lie.
He is like sunlight.
“Because you are precious to me,” he said roughly. “When you are in pain, I am in pain too.”
But in this one, they simply stared at each other, both of them bound by promises they had made to the people they loved. The problem was they also loved each other.
There was something to be said for simply trying. Many people were too afraid to even do that.
“Watch what you fucking say about my wife.”
“Because I can’t breathe when I look at you. Because it hurts”—he pressed his hands to his chest—“right here.”
