He had spent his adult life hoping Israel might become a normal country, that Jews might be normal people. His uncle had said once he’d like Israel to make peace with the Palestinians and in the region so it could be treated like a boring country, like New Zealand, but given everything that had happened on the Land, it was surely too much to ask.
