Five centuries of existence, and this was what my dignity had come to. Being mocked by a wolf over getting kneed in the groin by some human who didn’t even seem to possess the most basic of common sense in his pretty head.
“I guess sometimes when you’re running from everything else, any direction looks like the right one.”
Actually, I was fantasising about licking your forearms while simultaneously sort of still pondering if I’m going to die, but sure, let’s go with that.
“Because I find you incredibly attractive, and your blood is the sweetest thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of having in my mouth.”
“Maybe I don’t mind the flirting.” My voice came out lower than intended, almost sultry. “Maybe I’ve been enjoying it.”
“First rule of Killigrew Street, Flynn: we don’t talk about room 303.” I arched one skeptical eyebrow. “Yesterday you told me the first rule of Killigrew Street was we never use the haunted elevator. And the day before that, you said we weren’t supposed to answer the old telephone in the lobby unless it rings exactly three times.” “All rules are first rules when they keep you alive,” Priya replied,
“Are you drinking it now?” Flynn’s voice dropped lower, curious. I couldn’t lie. Not with his blood on my tongue. “Yes.”
“Show me where Priya cut you. I want to see a photo.”
My rules didn’t matter. Nothing else mattered. I had to see him. I had to touch him. I had to have him in my arms.
when Flynn Carter set his course, not even a storm could throw him off it. And right now? My compass pointed straight at Sebastián Salazar.
“Sebastián,” I breathed like a prayer. “This is what it feels like,” he murmured against my cheek, between kisses. “What?” “This is what it feels like to be alive.”
my body fitting against his like we’d been carved from the same stone.
“Well, well.” Rory leaned around Kit’s shoulder with a grin. “Looks like someone’s been having a bloody good time.”
“You know, I used to think the ocean at sunset was the most beautiful sight in the world.” My thumb traced his jawline. “Turns out I just hadn’t met you yet.”
Then the words tumbled from my lips, a wavering rush I couldn’t stop: “I think I’m falling in love with you.” He went utterly still above me, those dark eyes searching mine with an intensity that made my heart stutter. “I know I’m falling in love with you.”
“Lord above me, your blood…” He sounded utterly undone. “It’s like nothing I’ve ever known.” His hips snapped forward with new urgency. “You taste of summer storms.” Thrust. “Of starlight and salvation.” Thrust. “Like everything I didn’t know I was searching for.” Thrust. “Like mine.”
