“One bread, please.” The words tumbled out before I could stop them. Flynn’s eyebrows shot up. “One… bread?”
“You remind me of the ocean,” I murmured into the darkness. “Wild and endless and home.” The world swayed gently. My thoughts foamed, dissolved, scattered. “The sea’s too big without you.” The words slipped out, barely a breath, as darkness crept in at the edges. “Don’t want to be alone again.” Then, he was gone.

“Sebastián,” I breathed like a prayer. “This is what it feels like,” he murmured against my cheek, between kisses. “What?” “This is what it feels like to be alive.” My breath hitched as his hands gripped my hips, anchoring me. I pressed one hand against his chest, over the place where his beating heart once lay. “Then I’ve been dead until now too.”
“More,” he whispered against my lips. His hands slid up my back, pulling me impossibly close. “Just a moment more.” I melted into him, my body fitting against his like we’d been carved from the same stone.
