Uncle David returns to sit on a stump beside me, lowering himself without the use of his hands. I know he is two years younger than my dad, which makes him fifty-four, but his body and nimbleness are that of a much younger man.
Debbie Blaylock
I really liked this book, but this line bothered me a bit. She was surprised that a 54 year old man could lower himself to sit on a stump? And that made him seem like a younger man? 54 isn't old and most people that age can move as they please. I might be a little touchy as I'm 55 myself, but still!

“It’s when you stop trying to fight or conquer them yourself that you find peace. You grip a stone tight and let it absorb the sorrow and grief you want to unload, then leave it at his feet. Stones can take it. It’s why they’re so hard.”
