As you focus on the truth that God has given you, can you let go of trusting in your own ability and rules to stop sinning and start trusting in Christ today?
Lord, help me not to be conduct focused today, but beliefs focused.
If I sin today, help me not to make the sin a big deal, but rather, make Christ’s forgiveness of that sin and my ability to walk in righteousness a big deal.
Help me to root out the lies which I am believing that still cause sin in my life, so that I might be transformed by the renewal of my mind and not by trying to change my actions!
Thank you that overcoming sin is not my job, it was yours and you completed it. Thank you that my only job is to place my trust in you and your finished work.
“You are not called to give good advice, you are called to give the good news!” Phil Drysdale
In Christianity, the role of a leader is not to tell people what is right or wrong. Rather, it is to remind people of who they are and who God is in their lives.
Christianity is not a morality club! It’s not a religion you join that is supposed to dictate right and wrong for you.
Christianity is a state of being, a union with God that comes entirely from what He did for us.
Since the Christian life is an outworking of our beliefs, a transformation that occurs by the renewal of the mind, we as leaders must view people’s “problems” with this in mind.
The broken relationships, bad circumstances, trouble at work, habitual sins etc. are not the actual problem. These things are the symptoms of the problem. To effectively heal people you don’t just treat the symptoms, you must first diagnose the problem.
This is the job of a spiritual leader, to help people transform their lives and the way they see themselves by renewing their minds. Your job is to help people have a healthy view of who they are in Christ and of who God is. Everything will change for them as they start to see their righteousness in Christ, the goodness of God and His desire to turn all things in their lives to good.
We don’t have to be a mediator between God and them on how to live their lives! We are there to equip people to think for themselves, to know the heart of God, to be confident in who they are in Christ and to connect with God, so that they are able to walk out their faith with Him, instead of through their leaders!
Help me to walk out my calling and help me not to fall into the easy trap of treating the symptoms rather than focusing on the real issue.
Give me discernment to see the lies that others have embraced, and help me, by your Holy Spirit, to lead them into the knowledge of the truth that will set them free.
However, I 100% believe in a gospel that promotes health and wealth.
Help me get over any offenses I may have at those who have misrepresented you, and show me where it has caused me to doubt your goodness in some way.
Renew my mind so that I might have no doubt of your goodness and your heart towards me today. In every area I’m experiencing a lack of your blessings, help me to trust that you are working all things together for my good.
Help me to rest in the truth that my experience today is not greater than you.
“Faith produces good works, but good works don’t produce faith – just as milk produces butter but butter does not produce milk.” Reinhard Bonnke
Works do not create faith! Worse still, we end up producing our own fruit rather than the fruit of the Spirit!
Faith, however, always creates works. It causes the Spirit to bring forth fruit. Works which you have to stop and think about are not works produced by faith. They are produced by you and your efforts.
“A living, creative, active and powerful thing, this faith. Faith cannot help doing good works constantly. It doesn’t stop to ask if good works ought to be done, but before anyone asks, it already has done them and continues to do them without ceasing. Anyone who does not do good works in this manner is an unbeliever.”
works are the evidence of good faith. He’s not telling people to go work harder, he is telling people to look at their works to see if they have good faith.
The solution is to evaluate your faith and change what you believe.
our job is not to produce the fruit, our job is to bear the fruit. Let’s let Jesus focus on production and we can focus on abiding in Him.
