“Entirely. Every breath I take would be for you. Every inch of my being would belong to you. I could be your sanctuary and your undoing. I would give you everything you ever wished for. Follow your every word. Obey your every command. There is nothing I would deny you. Nothing, my little lover—as long as you are mine.”
“I would unravel the constellations and lay them at your feet,” he promised softly. “I would tear the stars from the sky and build you a throne of stardust and worship you upon it until the end of time. All you have to do is say yes.”
“No one else can experience your suffering,” Enver said. “It is not comparable, nor should you trivialize your own emotions.”
“I do not consider you an enemy of mine, my little lover,” he said. “I only consider you mine.”
“I suppose I, too, would let myself come near to death if it meant I could be that close to you.”
“The idea of never seeing you again strikes me with a deep ache,” Enver said, pulling me from my thoughts and carefully placing a hand over his chest. “Right here. Why?”
“I am simply drawn to you. Something inside me tells me I need you. As stars need darkness to shine. As shadows need light to cast them. I need you to exist.”
“Then sleep,” he responded, but didn’t stop his attentions. “Fall asleep to my kisses and dream of my touch.”
“You are anything but average. You are beyond what I can put into words. You are my fantasies brought to life. My wishes fulfilled, and my dreams realized.”
“Because of you. You are a reminder of all that I am missing, all that I long to have again, and all that I stand to lose. I want to have you by my side. I do not want to be alone anymore. I cannot deny it anymore.”
“Because I am full of contradictions,” he said. “I want to trap you here, yet I also want to set you free. I want you to myself, yet I know I cannot keep you. The more you care for me, the greater the guilt inside me grows, but at the same time, your feelings feed my pride because I know my words have swayed you.”
“I am unable to resist you. Powerless against the temptation of your touch. Your kiss. Your voice. You have become my sole weakness, my inevitable undoing, and my relentless obsession.”
“It is cruel, is it not?” Enver contemplated quietly. “To want something so desperately while knowing you are incapable of obtaining it. Incapable of offering what you truly wish to give.”
“I would cherish you,” Enver murmured against my ear, fingers splaying across my stomach. “I would cherish and adore every part of you, my little lover, no matter how small the piece is, if only you would let me.”
“I want you to share your worries and concerns with me. I want you trust me with your feelings, no matter how difficult or trivial, joyful or painful. I want to know all of you. I do not expect you to be able to change overnight, but I will wait patiently until you feel comfortable to be open with me. And I will be open with you from now on.”
“Oh, my little lover,” he murmured, stepping closer to me and cradling my cheek in his hand. “Do you not know? I am already yours. I was yours from the very moment my gaze first fell upon you. I am yours now, even when you will not offer yourself back to me. And I will continue to be yours even after you leave me. There will never come a day when I am not yours entirely and irrevocably. I may not be able to love you, but I am yours nonetheless.”
“I will be waiting for you to return to me, my little lover.”
“There is not one thing about you I would change,” he told me. “Whether you are in my arms, in my bed, or simply by my side, I am captivated by you. You are all I could ever ask for and more.”
“I fear losing you.”
“Hush, my little lover,” he crooned. “We have not said goodbye. Do not let go of me just yet. Stay with me. Remain in my arms and fill the hollowness of my heart. Just for a while longer.”
“I wish I could love you, too,” he murmured back, his deep voice filled with a longing that matched my own.
“You must return home, Nell. Your life is there, not here. I could not ask you to stay with me knowing the price you would have to pay. I cannot be the one to take your freedom away from you again. You cannot live in darkness as I do. The stars I once promised you are out of my reach within this castle.”
I would not forgive myself if I kept you here. You have given me so much—I cannot take any more from you. No matter how desperately I want to.”
“Do not do this to me,” he pleaded. “Do not let me fall further than I have. You can call me cruel. You can call me heartless. You can call me a monster. But do not ask this of me. You are my only solace, and you are asking me to ruin it. To ruin you. And I will not. I cannot.”
“I have chosen you, so choose me. Let me be selfish and steal you away. Let me love you the way I could not before. The way I wanted to before.”
“You are mine.”
