Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been more in love with Henry Price than I am in this moment, even if the pretty words he’s saying aren’t real.
Henry’s white button down has a few open buttons at the collar, and his black sports coat fits perfectly, hugging him in all the right places. His chocolate hair is somewhat styled, but it still looks like he’s been running his fingers through it.

“Can I listen to your book with you?”
Use me however you want, but please let me help you.”
“You’re . . . incandescent. You’re a beacon of light in a world that has seen too many tragedies. You’re the sun in the middle of a fucking hurricane. You’re everything good that a person could possibly be, all wrapped into one, and that’s exactly what you deserve. You deserve everything, Mirabelle.”
“I like a challenge, but I don’t need a prize. I’ll already have you.”
But then he looks at me, and I forget all my anxiety about doing the right thing, saying the right thing, and whether I will be enough.
Down, girl. They’re just forearms.
“Price, I’m sympathetic to the big romantic gesture you’re trying to do for my niece, but unless you’ve legally changed your last name to Walker, the league isn’t going to let you wear that jersey. All you’re going to do is rack up fines, and I can’t play you without the whole team facing penalties,”
“You made a list?”
