It Was Me All Along: A Memoir

I lied about just having eaten to eschew offers of food at the dinner table with my family.

Eating with eyes fixed on the TV was a hobby, something I learned to do as a way to occupy alone time.

Our whole family was set to the thermostat, boiling or freezing, inside of him.

I learned that if I made fun of myself for being fat, then the other kids couldn’t do it first.
