I’m sure Nate’s coming up with a plan in his head, one that will end in him rising to the occasion as my knight in shining armor. It looks like he’s about to charge at the burner staggering toward him, but he doesn’t. Instead, Nate runs . . . right out the front door. The man I’ve been with for more than two years, who asked me to marry him two and a half months ago, who told me he loved me just a few minutes ago . . . gone in an instant. Fucking great. I knew he wasn’t cut out for an apocalypse.
“Are you seriously suggesting it was my fault that fifty biters attacked this place?” My voice raises, matching his. “You’re the one that drove past the bus and didn’t check it out. If you had, you could have warned us, and maybe Chris would still be alive.” I narrow my eyes at him. “Oh, fuck off!” Blake stands quickly,
Once the source of my torment, Blake swings violently from the man who once ruined me to the man I now want to ruin me.
“You know I do,” I say. “Now make me love you.”
“I’ll do anything you want me to, Casey.”
