Magic wasn’t everywhere, Ma would fuss, but God was. Fayette didn’t think the two should necessarily be separate.
What she did miss, however, was family. Intimate talks. Hugs. Shopping with someone. The preciousness of silent companionship. That was the only sort of relationship she needed, and she’d never have it again.
Truly, a bad librarian was much like a bad cook. Both could feed a person something essential that could settle deep into the gut, and make a person ill for a very long time.
Most every person on a quest becomes a lost soul at several points in their journey.
Sometimes, I suppose, you don’t think, you just spread your wings and take to the air, like when first leaving the nest.
I now realize that people can be home.
I think I would like to have the woman, man, and other man here again so that I can show them how the world looks from up high, how the horizon curves, how the air tastes different. That seems like the kind of thing a friend would share, and I’m their friend.
