I was overcome with gratitude for everything that my life was and everything that it wasn’t. Even though I couldn’t have predicted it, as so often seems the case, the Fates had given me all my dreams and desires in the most unusual and pain-filled path and I was grateful for every second of it. Without it, I couldn’t have appreciated how amazing my life—and death really were.
