She was the human embodiment of sunshine, and what kind of selfish jerk would I be if I dimmed her glow with my dark, stormy clouds?
Gray: Just wear what you had on at the game. You looked perfect. Me: I was wearing your jersey. Gray: Like I said . . . perfect.
“That’s the first time I’ve ever been scared on the ice,” he said. “Really? I guess having a puck flying at you is a little different when you’ve got a helmet on.” “No, it’s a little different when it’s flying at you.”
Paige loved all candy, especially gummy worms, but I’d never been a huge fan. I always ate one or two whenever she was here though, because I didn’t want her to realize I only bought them for her.
If she showed up in this outfit at school, we were both going to get expelled. Paige for breaking the dress code, and me for breaking the nose of the first guy who checked her out.
“I think if you wear that dress for a second longer, I’m going to forget we’re just friends.”
“I don’t want you to be afraid.” “I’m never afraid when I’m with you.”
The way I yearned for his smiles, how I relished his scowls, how I admired his strength of heart, and how I adored his quiet kindness.
I feared one date with Grayson might ruin me for all other guys forever.
She looked beautiful this morning, and the way she was smiling pierced the heavy clouds surrounding my heart. There was nothing I loved more than seeing her happy.
“No, Pidge. That was my first kiss too.” “But . . . What? Who?” She blinked. “How is that possible?” “Why would I kiss someone else, when I was waiting for you?”
“To hell with realistic,” she replied. “Don’t stop chasing your dreams until your legs fail, your arms give in, and you can’t even drag yourself toward them anymore.”
“You were worth the wait,” she whispered.
