Space is opening up for a growing influence of Indigenous thought on new generations of activists, beginning, most significantly, with Mexico’s Zapatista uprising in 1994, and continuing, as we will see, with the important leadership role that Indigenous land-rights movements are playing in pivotal anti-extraction struggles in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand.
