Women in heavy, ankle-length embroidered skirts danced with men in capes; kids in red dungarees danced with other kids in red sailor’s caps. It was a great day to be in Norway. A little over two years later, this vision of multiethnic inclusiveness would be shattered by a terrible bombing in the heart of Oslo followed by an act of horrific mass slaughter on the island of Utøya, both the work of the same deranged maniac.
