THIS IS NOT A LITERARY MASTERPIECE. IT’S NOT EVEN LITERARY MASTERPIECE ADJACENT. This is an unhinged “fantasy” romance. It’s not your typical romantasy. There’s minimal world building, no overarching background plot, and no big villain. The plot focuses solely on the romance between the two main characters. For those of you thinking, “There’s no way someone could write a fantasy romance without a fantasy plot.” I love your enthusiasm—but you need to lower your expectations. And then lower them again. The hero makes a few morally black choices in the name of protecting the heroine, and at some point, you might think, “That might be too far.” “Might,” as in, you most definitely will think that. Do not take this book too seriously. It was written to be a fun read with a bit of “that’s fucked up” thrown into the mix. You might have a good time. You might not. Good luck.
