“Do we know where the stepbrothers are?” Tobias asks Barry. “Or are you still being an incompetent dickhead?” Barry narrows his eyes. “You’re not exactly doing much, are you? You’re too busy staring at your ex-wife.”

“If we really have lost my brother, I won’t let him hurt you, even if that means taking a bullet for you.”

I just needed to apologise. You don’t have to ever forgive me, but I want you to know that if I had all the time in the world, I would spend it trying to win you back. I’d prove myself worthy of you, Stacey. Because there hasn’t been a day that’s passed where you haven’t kept me going. My love might not be enough for you, but it’s all I have left. I love you. I love you so fucking much that I want to live.”

Barry crouches down to Cassie’s corpse and checks her pulse. “She’s dead.” Tobias frowns like a child just kicked his shin. “Of course she’s dead. Are your eyes working? Her brain is splattered on the ground, you fucking idiot.” Barry mutters to himself then looks up at Kade’s dad. “I was just stating a fact.” “A useless fact,” he counters. “Any others? You want to tell me the sky is blue while you’re at it?”
“I don’t give a fuck, Stacey. If you ever sneak away from me and risk getting yourself killed, I’ll kill you myself.” I narrow my eyes. “I’ll tell Lisa you’re threatening me.”
“Do you really need to keep hitting me? What are you getting out of being violent?”
“I won’t kill you,” he tells him in a bored tone. “I want you to live and know you can never see her beauty or touch her perfection. I want you to be helpless and unable to walk.” On the last word, he puts a bullet in Chris’s knee, and I close my eyes at the sound that comes from him.
In the nicest way possible, the girl is better off dead.
Barry looks around the room. “This is going to be horrible to clean up.” “What can I say? My son is an artist.” We all grimace. Tobias leans down and picks up the severed foot. “Think fast,” he says as he throws it at Barry’s face. He catches it automatically, then jumps back and drops it on the ground. “What the shit?”
“They want a war?” he says. “Well let’s give them one.”
