Eggs are Expensive, Sperm is Cheap: 50 Politically Incorrect Thoughts for Men

There’s an old saying that women are the gatekeepers of sex while men are the gatekeepers of commitment. To put that another way, women trade sex to get love while men trade love to get sex. While there’s some truth to both of those statements, the mixed up modern world has messed with the math.

There’s a calculus to traditional marriage You might think that since the man wants to spread his seed far and wide, it’s easy for the woman to find a mate. All she has to do is be available and the guys will come running. But that would be a huge mistake on her part. It’s easy for her to attract a man for a night, but if he’s the wrong kind of guy, she ends up pregnant and the guy is gone. Having a child is a big investment for a woman. She needs to play her cards right to get the things she needs — strong genes, protection and help with nurturing and caring for her children. A woman who is simply available has a very good chance of getting pregnant, but not such a good chance that her child will survive, so her genetic line will end right there. Consequently, the woman wants to attract high-value men with the traits she needs. She does her best to attract, but she also puts up barriers so she can select which men she’s interested in. Clueless men find this confusing, e.g., “If you didn’t want men looking at you, or coming on to you, then why did you dress like that?” The obvious answer is that the woman “dressed like that” to attract high-value men. She doesn’t want the attention of other, low-value men. She’s not interested in attracting everybody indiscriminately, but it’s hard to wear lipstick that only the high-value men can see.
