“Have you met her yet? The woman who will stop you in your tracks and steal your breath away with one glance?”
“Excuse me?” My face almost breaks into a smile, but I force it away. She’s too damn adorable.
It takes all of my strength not to smile, because I know from this single encounter she will be the end of me.
I’m relieved after the dream I had about the brown-eyed girl with a snarky fucking attitude.
My heart lurches forward, and it’s not lost on me that, at this moment, I’m the asshole.
At the moment, I see her at her core and know she has a kind heart.
Have we lived this life together before? I can’t shake that feeling.
“Wow.” Julie pulls out the brand-new iPhone box. “Rose gold. Largest storage. Did you give him a handy we don’t know about?”
“And I’m going to marry her one day.”
“It’s the fuck it I’m falling in love look,” Julie says.
“Yes,” I say, surprised I can even form words because I’m pretty sure he stole my soul when our lips touched.
“Marry that man,” a woman yells from the back, and I laugh.
lean in and speak loud enough for her to hear. “I don’t want anyone ever looking at you like that again.”
I don’t know if I can walk away from her now. There are too many invisible links keeping me cuffed to her.
“Kissing you felt like magic.”
“If you’re here, give us a sign!” I glance at her with a snicker. “Should I say Beetlejuice three times?” Then, the light in the living room above the mantel clicks on and I freeze.
“Mom was stardust. Sparkly and beautiful, but gone too soon,”
“Another thing we have in common. Damn.”
Tequila like this will get me in trouble or naked. Fuck, maybe both.
He may have said it like a warning, but I take it as an invitation.
It’s creepy how he easily strolls through my thoughts.
I take a step forward and he places his hand against the small of my back. My face softens. “Do we end up together?” “Yes. We get our happily ever after,” he whispers, swallowing hard.
“You feel like you’re mine.”
It’s hard for me to imagine a time when I didn’t know he existed. How do either of us come back from this?
“You wake up pretty.”
“One I’ll keep for a lifetime,” he whispers.
Twin flames. Mirrored souls.”
She’ll walk into your life when you try to escape. She’ll speak of the dreams she had about you. They are you. Astral projections of yourself to your twin flame. Mirrored souls.
You exchanged beautiful, heartfelt vows at my favorite time of day when the sun makes the world shine like gold. I was there with you, and we were a happy family. When you do get married, wherever you are, I will be there with you in butterfly flutters. I promise.
Say I love you as much as you can. One day, you might not be able to.
