It shouldn’t feel like this. It shouldn’t feel like home. It shouldn’t feel like I want to do this again and again and again. But it does.
“I’m afraid of growing attached then having to navigate a world without knowing you.” His face softens and I wonder what he’s thinking. “Your turn.” “I’m afraid of falling madly in love with you,”
“Falling in love with me wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to you, would it?” “No. Losing you would,”
“You say it like money is unlimited.” “It is,” he says without skipping a beat, then he leans in and whispers in my ear, “Try me, Pumpkin.” “What if I want a new car?” He nibbles on my earlobe. “We’ll shop for one tomorrow.” “A new wardrobe?” I whisper, wrapping my hand against the back of his neck. “I’ll call my personal tailor.” “A house?” I mutter. “I know a few builders.” His hot breath is on my skin. “And what if all I want is you?” I finally say. He pulls away, meeting my eyes. “You have me.”
“I’m not going anywhere, Pumpkin.” “Is that a promise?” I ask, turning my head enough to meet his soft eyes. “One I’ll keep for a lifetime,” he whispers.
“But you’ll say yes and it will be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to you. You’re his queen, the only woman who can sit beside him, not only as his wife, but as his equal. You’ve been waiting for confirmation that he’s the man in your dreams. He is and always has been. Twin flames. Mirrored souls.”
