I have the literary version of erectile dysfunction.
It takes all of my strength not to smile, because I know from this single encounter she will be the end of me.
“He looks at you like he plans to unravel you,”
“Men like him are used to getting whatever they want and never have to work for anything in their life. I’m tired of it, to be honest. And don’t you dare try to tell me how hot he is. Maybe he is, but it doesn’t erase his shitty attitude. As soon as he speaks, it’s a complete turnoff. I’m sure he enjoys it when women fall to their knees for him, but I refuse.”
“What does the man who has everything want from little ole me?” “Friendship.”
“I want to put some magic into the world and make someone’s day better.”
“I wasn’t perfect in our relationship,” she admits. “No one is. Sometimes we date people who bring out the best in us, sometimes they bring out the worst.”
You have the power to do whatever you want in life, so choose what makes you happy. Take more risks. Dance in the rain. Swim in the sea. Ski off-trail. Love with your full heart. Magic is in the moment. Magic is all around us. I hope you can still find it.
“You’re a figment of my imagination; every time I’m with you, it feels like I’m losing it.” I laugh. “I’m literally the man of your dreams?”
Fuck, I hope I don’t fall in love with this man. It would complicate our lives. But then again, I thrive in chaos.
“It doesn’t seem plausible. Why would you choose me when you can literally have anyone?” “You are anyone. Point?”
“I’m afraid of growing attached then having to navigate a world without knowing you.”
“Falling in love with me wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to you, would it?” “No. Losing you would,”
“I’ve never met a man who’s admitted that.” His brow quirks up. “You could’ve stopped that sentence after man.”
“But you’ll say yes and it will be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to you. You’re his queen, the only woman who can sit beside him, not only as his wife, but as his equal. You’ve been waiting for confirmation that he’s the man in your dreams. He is and always has been. Twin flames. Mirrored souls.”
“You really want me to be your wife?” “Fuck yes, I do,” he says. “I want to be her too,”
My mother once told me to be known is to be loved. You know me. And I love you, Autumn. I love you like I’ve known you for a lifetime.
Kiss each other good night every single night. Tomorrow isn’t promised. Never go to bed angry. I don’t care what happened. Laugh until your stomach hurts. It’s healthy for the soul. Say I love you as much as you can. One day, you might not be able to. Take a ridiculous number of pictures together. It’s the only way to turn back time. Be each other’s best friend. Because together, you can conquer anything. Share secrets and communicate. And never repeat what’s said. Forgive easily. Sometimes, it’s the only way to move forward. Love one another without barriers. Because then it’s limitless.
