“This is why mankind has spent hundreds of years perfecting indoors. Everything outside wants to kill you.”
“You’re… touching me.” “Oh.” She glances back over her shoulder and blushes. “Sorry.” Embarrassed, she drops my hand like it burned her. Nope, don’t like that at all. “I didn’t say stop.” This time, I thread our fingers together so she can’t slip away from me so easily.
She’s too pretty for a fucked up monster that even his own parents couldn’t love. Too nice. Too trusting. If I kill off all the other unmated men in town, though… She wouldn’t have a reason to leave me. Ever.
Muggers probably take one look at Ledger and give him their wallets. And a blow job for wasting his time.
“He came out of the woods looking like he got into a fight with a blender and lost; I couldn’t exactly leave him there to finish getting murdered! There wasn’t any cell service, and I’m not built for prison.” I shrug, hands up in helpless surrender. “Kidnapping him was the only reasonable option left.”
Can’t fuck my new neighbor, can’t fuck my new neighbor. That has disaster written all over it.
Motherfucker. Hot as hell, considerate, and he owns a bookstore? Just take my panties already, why don’t you?
“How long did it take Lainey’s eyebrows to grow back again? You know, after she kissed you and you were so flustered, you burned off her eyebrows and half her hair, then threw her in the lake.” “She was on fire, what was I supposed to do?!”
“Call it whatever you like, sunshine, so long as you eat something.”
Good thing I’m out here rawdogging life and can suppress those feelings into an ulcer instead.
You have a ghost stalking you, Ev. Crazy is so far behind us, we can’t even see it in the rearview mirror anymore.
If the supernatural world knew that mimics still exist, it'd be a bloodbath.
There’s no other choice. I’m going to have to find Ever myself and bring her here where I can keep her safe. The elders have been
hounding me to take a mate for years, so they’ll forgive me for leaving as long as I come back with one. By the time they realize I bonded a human, it’ll be too late to send her away, and Ever will be mine. Forever.
No wonder shadow demons are on the outskirts of supernatural society; they’re unhinged.
“Some mysts are born with a mark; we call them centers, because they’re the heart bond groups are built around. When they choose a mate, during the ceremony they drink a potion that causes the other to gain the center’s mark like a public claim, but more permanent than wedding rings. Or if they,” I swallow, hard, and I’m pretty sure my face is on fire, “if they find their fated mates, that mark will appear the first time they touch.”
“Ten thousand people in this city, and you’re the
one I wake up looking for and go to sleep thinking about. You don’t have to be magical to be amazing. You just have to be you.”
“The thrill of the chase and taking the leap to date a total stranger and hope they won’t murder you, but become your entire world?” I snort. “Is that what dating is to you? Gambling between murder and marriage?”
You’d think Myles would be far more confident since he’s apparently hung like a horse. If I had a dick that size, I’d be a menace.
He can be her light, and I can be her shadow. It doesn’t have to be a competition. Together, we can give her everything she needs. “I’m going to be the best brother you could ask for,” I promise, wincing as his head hits the doorway. “Starting now.” Then maybe someday I’ll finally have a family that doesn’t look at me like I’m a monster.
