The demonstration consists of an examination of the consequences of eight hypotheses regarding the existence of Unity. This second part of the dialogue from 137C to the end has proven itself the single most difficult and variously interpreted sustained argument in the entire Platonic corpus. Yet what Parmenides does on these pages is just what he prescribes between 135C and 136C, and this methodological prescription itself is relatively straightforward.
Demonstration of the proper method of framing hypothesis proceeds with an hypothesis about unity within a framework of eight hypotheses.
Correction of details and further exploration of particular ramifications of the account, needless to say, will require much additional labor.
