Indeed, the company had to get rid of employees who couldn’t make the switch, he says—not because they were incompetent, but because they were hoarding information and knowledge for their own benefit, to ensure their own indispensability rather than helping the team and the company. Changing that culture, though, is what allows true excellence to emerge.
