It was amazing to watch the stock price of Medco that summer. When we started building the infrastructure, the stock started going up, and when we delivered, it continued to rise. How much? Well, many billions of dollars’ worth, from a price of 25 to over 50 within the year. Wall Street had decided the company would continue to grow, would attract new customers, and would maintain its leadership in the field. In retrospect, I should have asked for a percentage-of-market-cap increase rather than a simple fee.
