My best friend Nash would kill me if he knew I had been wishing on every fallen star for his sister to fall into me.
“Have you ever wished on a star?” Only for you.
“I hope one day I’ll see you again, but until then, I’ll think of you whenever I look up at the moon.”
Nova Simmons had always been my wish upon a star. And that’s why she would never be mine.
All I could do was hope that one day our paths would cross again. That the moon would pull him home like the tide to the shore.
“Winky, more tea,” Posey says, breaking through the conversation as she holds up her tea cup. She takes the one from Teddy and hands it to Nova. Nash snorts before he lets out a loud laugh. “Winky?” Posey nods, smiling the biggest goddamn smile as she waves her cup at me. “Winky!”
“Some people are worth the risk, Lincoln. You just have to decide who you want to take that chance with.”
“I think my number will look much better on your back,”
“You were in college working on your degree. I may be selfish, but I’m not a fucking asshole. I would have never asked you to give up your dreams while I chased my own.”
“Because you live with your head in the sky, Nova.” Releasing her one arm, I lift my hand to the side of her face. “While you’ve been counting stars and studying the phases of the moon, I’ve been studying you—only you.”
“I always tried to keep my distance out of respect for your brother, but you’ve always been the only person I see. In a crowded room or in an empty one, it’s always you, Nova. You’re a permanent fixture inside my mind.”
“I don’t want you to have to remember what it was like without me here.”
“My beautiful supernova…I need you to know, if we cross this line, there’s no going back, baby.” “I don’t want to go back.”
“You are the most amazing person I’ve ever met—inside and out.”
No one I was ever with could compare to her. I’m fairly certain there’s no one in this universe that would even come close.
If there’s one person who can make me reconsider everything I thought I didn’t want, it’s her. It’s always been her.
“You are the most amazing person I’ve ever met, Nova Simmons.”
“It’s okay, Nova. I’ve waited a fucking lifetime for you. I can wait a little longer.”
I’m so far gone for Nova Simmons, and one day soon, the entire world is going to know.
