My best friend Nash would kill me if he knew I had been wishing on every fallen star for his sister to fall into me.
“I hope one day I’ll see you again, but until then, I’ll think of you whenever I look up at the moon.”
Nova Simmons had always been my wish upon a star. And that’s why she would never be mine.
Regrets are a thing for the past, and all you can do is keep moving and live your life differently than you did then.
“Some people are worth the risk, Lincoln. You just have to decide who you want to take that chance with.”
His expression is soft as his eyes meet mine again. “I have all the luck I need.”
“While you’ve been counting stars and studying the phases of the moon, I’ve been studying you—only you.”
“I always tried to keep my distance out of respect for your brother, but you’ve always been the only person I see. In a crowded room or in an empty one, it’s always you, Nova. You’re a permanent fixture inside my mind.”
“My beautiful supernova…I need you to know, if we cross this line, there’s no going back, baby.” “I don’t want to go back.”
I don’t know how or when it happened, but I’m completely smitten with this little girl. And wholeheartedly obsessed with her mother.
“You were never a phase, Lincoln.” She pauses as her eyes search mine, and she lets out a ragged breath. Emotion washes over her expression, and the intensity of it hits me in my chest. “You’ve always been the sun. A steady, constant light that never diminishes.”
“I’m in love with you, Nova.” He lets out a sigh of relief and the softest of laughs. “God, I’ve been in love with you for as long as I can remember, and I’m done fighting it.”
“I love you, Lincoln.” She pauses, wiping the tears that fall from her eyes as she smiles at me. “I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember. Even when I didn’t think you would ever feel the same way, I still hoped it would happen. Even when I tried to move on, you were still my wish for every full moon.”
