You didn’t see what Jace was like. He was fucked up.” Margot frowned. “Fucked up how?” “Like, he got busted in seventh grade for starting a fire in one of the bathroom trash cans. I don’t think he was trying to burn down the school or anything, but it got out of control and we all had to evacuate. He got into a lot of trouble for it.” “What?” “Yeah. And in ninth grade, he beat up Trey Wagner so bad the guy had to go to the hospital.”
This plus the killing that bird thing is all just way too obvious "precursor to being a killer" shit everyone whose ever watched any crime show already knows, the lack of subtly in this book is pissing me off. Like theres nothing left for the reader to interpret, either jace is January's killer or he's a painfully obvious red herring.
He was turned slightly, so she couldn’t see his face, but his hair was the same shade of brown as Jace’s in his mugshot. It was longer in this photo, past his chin and tucked behind his ears. She zoomed in, and his face blurred, but she could make out the shape of it,
This is so dumb and unrealistic. You're telling me she supposedly found jace with less than a day in chicago (a huge fucking city by the way) based off of a few side comments from people? Bffr
must’ve looked pretty bad, though, me standing there, January’s blood on my clothes. But I guess my mom loved me more than I realized, because she decided to protect me. “She staged the scene as a break-in, to divert the police from finding out ‘what I’d done.’ ”
But when she saw the face in front her, Krissy was surprised to see it didn’t belong to a stranger after all. “Oh,” she said. “Hi.” “Jodie.” The woman touched her hand to her chest. “From Northlake High? My last name’s Palmer now, but I was Jodie Dienner back then.”
Dont tell me were getting a lesbian lover plotline now wtf is going on in this book. New theory jodie is the auburn hair lady
She just nodded, and suddenly Jodie’s mouth was on hers and Krissy no longer cared that she wasn’t gay or that she didn’t have a label for what she felt for this woman. That spark between them had ignited a flame, and now she simply surrendered.
The man crossed the two steps that separated them and reached a hand behind him into the waistband of his pants. Krissy whirled around to open the door, but it was too late. From the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of a gun, felt the cold as it touched her temple. “You shouldn’t have lied to me,” he said, and then there was nothing but blinding white.
Called it. And NOW let me guess we're supposed to think that dave killed her but it was actually luke or her husband (billy)
