The first two methods depend on how God’s dealings with his people in the Old and New Testaments are much the same. But because the Old Testament anticipates Jesus, in some ways it also differs from the New. Its stories leave us unsettled. The Bible’s grand story unfolds as we progress from start to finish. With each turn it shows us more about the good news to come. Until we open the final fold and see Jesus, the whole picture never quite works.
