My body is flint, his thumb the match, and I’m on fire now. Scorching all the way through.

She looks me right in the eye. She’s a badass. She’s a woman who maybe—fucking finally—understands how incredible she is. How capable she is. How much she deserves.

“Where the hell did you find this girl?” “Finding her wasn’t the hard part.”

This woman is stunning. A dream. She belongs up there, in the clouds. We’re blessed to have her among us. Don’t deserve her one bit.

“I just convinced a total rocket to be my girl. No way in hell I’m keeping that to myself.”

I’m addicted to her. Obsessed. Out of my motherfucking mind for her.

“The whole thing explains so much.” “About why I’m so messed up?” “About why you’re so goddamn perfect. All that wrong eventually has to make a right. It’s the law of nature.” I chuckle into his shoulder. “Which documentary is that from? It sounds like something someone made up to feel better about their misdeeds.” “It’s not,” he says with a shrug. “It’s how human life came to exist after the asteroid killed dinosaurs.” “You’re comparing me to the death of dinosaurs?”

“I’m obsessed with you,” I say, and my voice comes out gravelly from holding back tears. “Every bit of you.” Her eyebrows shoot up and she gives a surprised chuckle. “I don’t know what to say to that.” I take her chin, turn her head, kiss her over her shoulder. “That’s okay. I’ll do the talking.”

“God, look at you. All the curves and long limbs. I’ve already got each one of your freckles memorized.” He traces them along my back. “I could place them like a constellation.”
