My phone started ringing from behind him, and he reached and handed it to me. When I saw Antwan’s facetime call coming in, I rolled my eyes and showed him the phone. “Answer… you were with him for a minute. You don’t just forget about someone you cared about birthday.” I was surprised by his response and slid my finger across the screen. “Hey.” “Happy birthday, baby.” Before I could respond, Don snatched the phone and came into view. “Chill on the baby, my boy…. Say happy birthday and keep that shit respectful.” He handed me the phone back and I busted out laughing in Antwan’s face. “This the shit you really on, Nav?” “Her name Navy… cut those nicknames out, too.” He yawned, getting out the bed.

That was mature of him & I love how he still checked his ass too.

“You really doing some hoe shit right now,” he ranted as I ended the call with him, because I didn’t have time to listen to him put his shit on me.

& if nothig else he did was enough THAT would have for sure gotten him blocked ... on my birthday too.

Zoya laughed. “Don’t worry about that. This is on me… a passion project. I am getting my son out of this.” “Who are you adopting?” “Bando, come here!” I heard Zoya yell out, and this big ass dog came running toward us. I shoved my ass into the office behind Jordan. “Sit.”

I turned slowly with tears in my eyes as I looked at Landon. “You went and got her… why?” Hugging Mink around the neck and nuzzling my face with hers, she was so happy to see me. Whenever I had time, I visited her often and tried to take her on a walk around the shelter. “Just because children aren’t in our future, doesn’t mean we can’t go half on love for Mink. This shit don’t work out, Bleu, I want split custody. I’ll show up to the house in pajamas and call you an unfit mother, too.” I broke out laughing and stood up, tossing my arms around him. “Thank you so much, baby. Me and Mink will come and visit you anytime.”

He left the dining room, and Kora looked at me. “You make him so happy. I haven’t seen Don like that ever.”

“Don’t do that shit near us,” Menace added.

And I just bust out laughing.

Now he was in this waiting room, feeling like he was about to scream because he didn’t know what was going on. I looked up from my phone. “I’m getting a vasectomy today.” He nodded his head. “It’s alright, Don.” “What?” “I remember when you used to play in dirt, and I used to look at you and never understood. Moms even had us take a picture in the dirt and I shoved you away from me. You fell back and hit your head. I’m sorry for that because I can see how you’re dealing with it as an adult.” He stood up and paced the waiting room. “Menace, shut the fuck up. I’m doing it because I found myself in a situation.”

To avoid her having surgery, especially since she had a miscarriage, I was gonna make sure we protected ourselves, and that started with me getting snipped. I wasn’t about to make her take birth control again and fuck up her cycle and shit when I could do this fifteen-minute procedure. Anything for the future Mrs. Caselli.

I released myself on his face, and watched as the dark colored urine, stained with my period covered his face. I looked over at myself in the mirror, my eyes tired, my soul weary, and quickly fixed the somber expression on my face.
