“You got yourself killed with those reckless moves,” she argues. “Which I clearly warned you against, but you’re a barbarian through and through. Destroy, smash, kill,” she says, obviously mocking me. “I thought that was the point.” “You obviously need more guidance. What you need is a girlfriend who you’ll actually listen to for once. Find her and bring her to D&D night.”
Once he’s gone, I throw his underwear in with another load of laundry and start the machine.
It’s some time past midnight and still raining outside. Normally, I’d be home by now, but I can’t seem to get off this couch. I’m facing Maggie, who’s scrolling through her phone in nothing but her underwear, while I’m busying my hands with a sketch on my tablet. It’s of her, and all the perfect parts of her stretched out before me.
“Why are you ignoring Sophie?” Charlie snaps without a greeting. “What? I’m not.” “She’s been texting you all day. Now she’s in her room crying and won’t come out. She’s sensitive, Beau. I know she’s just a kid, but she was just starting to get close to you, and she doesn’t need another man in her life to let her down.”
“Do I have a choice?” Her brow furrows. “Have you ever put your personal life before your work, Maggie?” “Work is my life, and I don’t feel bad about that.” “I’m not saying you should feel bad, but you’re trying to live two separate lives.” “So, what do I do?” I ask. It’s only slightly weird that we’re having this deep conversation while I’m cuffed to the wall in my underwear. “Take him with you. Don’t you think he’d go?”
Maybe I should think this through more, but at the end of the day, I trust her, and I’m more than willing to throw caution to the wind and put everything in her hands. I can’t get over how good that feels, letting her have control. Especially since she wants it. And not just during sex, but for my entire future.
A bad idea brews in my mind. I’m definitely going to be punished for this, but I can’t help myself. I mean…all of the people I know that my dad works with are probably home asleep or drunk off their asses, definitely not here. No one would recognize me. So why can’t I peek around a little bit?
things to me that I see him thinking. “Bullshit,” I bark at him. “It bugs you, doesn’t it? To find out I’m not as masculine as you thought.” “Beau, stop it,” he bellows, loud enough to send his voice echoing through the room. My mouth shuts in a tight clench as I glare at him. “The only thing that bugs me is you thinking that my love and support for you has anything to do with masculinity. You think I care about how submissive you are to your partner? You think a real man can’t be submissive? Then I’ve failed you as a father, and that bugs me.”
