My great friend the director Mike Nichols (1931–2014) told me he’d spent an evening with Margaret Thatcher and found her very sexy. He cracked himself up relating a comment she’d made at dinner: “There are no coups in England.” There, of course, have been many such in Jolly Olde (see Cromwell).
